Is merino too hot for summer use?
Nope! Merino is a very fine and soft, yet durable natural fiber produced from sheep that thrive in temperatures ranging from 95°F in summer to -4°F in winter. Merino products are ideal for getting sweaty at the gym, on the mountain, in the yoga studio, at work, or on the road. The hotter the better. Because of the thermoregulatory properties of Merino, it will keep you fresh, cool, and dry no matter sweaty you get. It also keeps you warm in the winter, haha.
Is merino scratchy on skin?
Nope! Merino is super fine and butter soft. Merino wool comes from merino sheep, a breed which is world-renowned for producing the softest, highest quality fiber of any sheep. Merino fibers are super fine (thinner than human hair!) making Performance Innerwear soft and luxurious. Most women get their first BRANWYN's for sports but eventually make them their daily go-to.
How do I wash my Branwyn Performance Innerwear?
Machine wash with like colors in warm and mild eco-friendly soap, then hang to dry. IMPORTANT Always wash black garments separately! While on the road, or in the wild, wash with shampoo or mild soap in the shower and rinse thoroughly using fresh water, then squeeze out excess moisture and hang to dry. Merino dries quickly! IMPORTANT Never bleach or use fabric softener. Bleach destroys merino fibers and fabric softeners coat the fibers reducing their ability to manage moisture and regulate body temperature. Garments damaged due to improper care cannot be refunded or exchanged.
How sustainable is Merino wool?
Merino is a natural alternative to synthetic and petroleum-based fibers. Merino wool is a regenerative fiber and not part of the petroleum family like polyesters and microfibers. Unblended Merino wool is 100% compostable and 100% recyclable.
How sustainable are nylon and spandex?
Nylon and Spandex are not green materials. Right now, due to our relatively small size, we must use what is currently available. That said, we have identified viable "green" solutions for both these materials and plan to adopt by 2022. Our goal is a 100% compostable product.
Where is BRANWYN made?
We source from the "best of the best" from across the world. Our merino wool is from sheep that are raised at Mount Hesse sheep farm in Australia. Our yarn is spun by Sudwolle in Europe, and our products are knitted seamlessly, garment dyed, and finished at our factory in Istanbul, Turkey.
How is Peformance Innerwear made?
Once our merino wool is spun, our factory in Istanbul, Turkey, knits each garment using un-dyed merino wool yarn on Santoni seamless knitting machines. By using seamless knitting technology instead of cut-and-sew techniques we reduce fabric waste. After each garment is knitted, it is dyed and pre-shrunk to the correct size before individually packed in plant-based, compostable, and recyclable plastic.
Are sheep injured in the process?
No! We love our sheep and would never hurt them. Our Merino wool comes from ethically treated sheep in Australia that are happy and healthy animals.
how is your production process different from other brands?
We manufacture every piece in their natural yarn color and then garment dye in small batches. During the process, each piece is pre-shrunk to the correct size which virtually eliminates additional shrinkage later. This, combined with our seamless knitting technology, is what makes our underwear so soft and comfortable! However, this is also what might cause slight variations in size and color. This is a totally normal outcome of our craft process. Each piece is unique, and no two pairs are exactly the same. Just like you!

What does "STAY GLDN" mean and where did it come from?
Our designer Shawna's dad went to all her games as a kid and used to shout “Stay Golden” to her, a reference from the 1983 American coming-of-age drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola called The Outsiders. It means "Be true to yourself, innocent, uncorrupted, unblemished, etc. Don't conform to what society dictates. March to the beat of your own drum."
Is BRANWYN affiliated with the underwear brand called STAY GLDN which launched on Kickstarter in 2016?
